Do you think about what you have done for or against your health at the end of the day and then plan on where you can improve tomorrow? I have found this to be a very valuable technique for achieving better health.
For example, I often travel in my main line of business. Eating in restaurants when traveling poses the greatest risk for me gaining weight. Recently I finished the first phase of long term assignment and I gained weight. Up to the start of that project I had been largely working from home for about four months. At home it is very easy for me to eat very healthy food and not overeat.
When I am home it is also easy for me to maintain a regular exercise program. Well I use the term easy in the context that I am close to the gym and areas where I like to run, walk, bike or skate. At home my schedule is more flexible so it is not uncommon for me to start working very early, and then take a break around 9AM to exercise. This does not mean that I am always ready and excited about exercising. I can assure you that I am not. But I work at exercising 4 times a week.
Whether I am traveling or at home, I have recently developed the practice of evaluating my day in many ways including my health score. How did I do? What can I do better tomorrow? Making tomorrow's commitment the night before helps. Maybe it will work for you.
